Board member of the Association of Washington School Principals for many years.
An advocate for the needs of professional educators, staff and learners, working closely with elected officials.
Recipient of the following awards:
Paul Kersenbrock Humanitarian of the Year award.
Middle School Principal of the Year award.
Middle school he led named one of three US Schools That Make a Difference by the National Association of Secondary Schools.
Elementary school he led earned the Washington Academic Achievement Award six years in a row, a recognition that no other school has accomplished, and was named a Distinguished School three times.
Volunteer Work:
Mentor for first year principals for many years, helping those new to the profession manage the many challenges and responsibilities that come with the job.
Co-founded TeenHope, an emergency overnight youth shelter located in north Shoreline to serve unhoused teens.

Has traveled and worked outside the US including Denmark, Taiwan, Colombia, Ecuador and Bolivia.
Has resided in Edmonds since 1959.
